Pineapple and Thai Basil Juice

The short, cold and rainy days make me crave for a vitamin boost with a tropical twist. For this purpose this pineapple juice is just perfect. A refreshing, sweet, aromatic and healthy treat. It’s a little bit of Thailand in your glass.

Pineapple contains plenty of vitamin c and fibers. This sweet fruit has also the power to reduce asthma symptoms and lowers blood pressure. Moreover pineapple is easy to digest and can therefore be consumed on any time of the day and in combination with every dish. According to the Ayurvedic principles eating fruit in combination with other food can cause fermentation in your stomach and intestines. Pineapple and papaya are the exception on this rule. They contain special enzymes that isolates them from the other food in your stomach.

Thai Basil adds a nice aroma to this drink. This herb is also an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin K, iron and calcium. Another health benefit of basil is its antibacterial properties and anti-inflammatory activity. For some spiciness I add also fresh ginger. The list of the health benefits of ginger are endless. This powerful root is a proven medicine against nausea, colds, muscle pain, any kind of infection, heart diseases, indigestion and any kind of pain.

By the way: you can make a lassi variation of this beverage by adding some yogurt.
